Disability Access
The Glamorgan Building has level access from the road to the pavement in front of the building, at the entry points to the building forecourt. There are dropped curbs along King Edward VII Avenue. The main entrance to the Glamorgan Building is via steps with handrails and the accessible entrance is located down a short path to the left of the building. If participants have special requirements that arise as a result of a disability, medical condition, or specific learning difficulty, please contact the workshop organisers so that the appropriate arrangements can be made prior to the event.
There are two designated accessible car parking bays very close to the accessible entrance. To reserve a parking space in advance, please telephone the Glamorgan Building reception on 02920 875179 and provide the following details: car registration, date, and purpose of visit. Temporary parking permits will be issued and entry through the security barrier can be arranged. Please also inform the porter if assistance is required.
If workshop participants are travelling to Cardiff by train/coach and would like a taxi with wheelchair access for onward travel to the University, there is a list of local taxi companies here. A recommended company is Dragon Taxis (tel: 02920 333333). Participants may also wish to look at the campus accessibility information so that they can plan routes around the University buildings in advance.

Participants may also request for the presence of a deaf interpreter, usher (for people who are blind or visually impaired and require mobility assistance), and/or relevant equipment (e.g. wheelchairs, remote microphones for people with a hearing impairment). If there are any specific requirements or questions, please contact Gareth Thomas on thomasg23@cf.ac.uk.

Travel

Train
Cardiff is easily accessible by rail from London, major UK airports, and many towns and cities across the country. The Cardiff-London InterCity rail service, from London Paddington, runs seventeen times a day, with a journey time of approximately two hours. Frequent regional network trains, the Sprinter services, connect Cardiff with many towns and cities across the UK, including:

-
Bristol (50mins)
-
Birmingham (2hrs 30mins)
-
Southampton (2hrs 40mins)
-
Manchester (3hrs 20mins)
-
Liverpool (3hrs 45mins).
Various rail companies operate direct services to Cardiff Central train station from London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

There are three train stations in central Cardiff: Cardiff Central Train Station (where most people will arrive), Cardiff Queen Street Station, and Cathays Station. Cardiff Central train station is approximately 20 minutes on foot to the School of Social Sciences (CF10 3WT) or a 5-10 minute taxi ride. When arriving at Cardiff Central, you should exit at the front of the station. To the right, there is a taxi rank and the walking route into the city centre.
Alternatively, visitors can change at Cardiff Central for either Cardiff Queen Street Station (about a 15 minute walk from the venue) or Cathays Station (a 5-10 minute walk to the venue). Cathays Station is located in the centre of the Cathays Park Campus, opposite the Cardiff University Main Building. It provides easy access to all other University buildings at Cathays Park.

If workshop participants plan to cycle to the venue, there are 41 bicycle parking spaces shared between three locations around the Glamorgan Building.
